4. Showcase – 4/13-4/17
Norm
Spiegel noted that he has sent out e-mails to the 2011 hosts. He has had a 50% positive response that the new proposed dates
would work. He is waiting to hear from the other hosts and will have this information at the June meeting.

2013
Proposed change (Easter is 3/31; Youth & NCAA TBD)

Easter is 3/31

4. Showcase – 4/10-4/14
Bob
Mathson noted that a High School section conference call has been arranged for this evening and these dates will be discussed. Norm noted that the reason for the date changes is because of the coaches black out
dates. The 2010 Nationals occurred in the middle of the coaches black out and therefore they could not attend the Nationals
to look at players.
c. Required Hotel stay (=over-rides) vs charging
an entry fee
Norm
noted that one of the biggest complaints from the Tier II 2010 Nationals was that the hotels were more expensive and that
cheaper hotels were available. Hosts noted that they needed this income to pay for ice time. The 2011 Hosts said they already
have contracts in place with hotels and also need this income.
d. Merchandise – host permitted to use local provider instead of USAH licensee…..is this an option going forward?
It
was noted by the Youth Council that this needs to happen. It is very hard for hosts to make money on merchandise if they do
not use a local vendor.
e. Gate/ admission – fixed rates?
The
Youth Council agreed that we should try to make the gate fee admission consistent among the sites. There does need to be a
standard set for admission.
f. Tier II bracket structure: 4 divisions (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A – each w/ 12 teams =
48) vs 3 divisions (Red, White & Blue – each w/ 16 teams = 48 teams)
The
Youth Council liked the idea of moving from 4 divisions to athree division structure Red, White and Blue format with 16 teams
in each. Norm noted that he would not be replacing teams and this would avoid some of the problems that happened this years
with teams from bigger states playing teams from smaller states.

Affiliate definitions of Tier I &
Tier II
Dave Klasnick noted that the Tier II requirements document were attached to
this agenda. Dave noted that we should look over this document and if there is currently not something in place we could use
one of these requirements. Kaye Pinkowski noted that they are currently dealing with legal issues in Mid-AM regarding the
tier requirements.
